Frequently Asked Questions
A few helpful details before your portrait experience.
Where are you located?
DelaFoto is located in Denver's historic South Broadway Church at 23 Lincoln Street, just minutes from the Denver Design District.
Our studio offers complimentary on-site parking and is surrounded by local restaurants and pet-friendly patios—making it easy to turn your portrait day into a memorable outing.
What is your portrait process?
Every portrait experience begins with a thoughtful conversation so we can get to know you, your family, your pets, and the artwork you hope to create together.
Your experience includes:
Personal planning consultation
Guided portrait session
Cinematic artwork presentation
Design consultation for your home
From beginning to end, you'll be personally guided through every step.
When are sessions available?
Portrait sessions are offered Tuesday through Thursday and Saturdays by appointment.
Because every portrait experience is thoughtfully planned in advance, appointments are typically scheduled at least one week ahead. This allows time for your personal consultation and ensures every detail is carefully prepared before you arrive.
What if I'd like to include my family, partner or other pets?
Absolutely.
Some families choose portraits of their pets alone, while others include partners, children, grandparents, or the whole household.
We simply ask that everyone be from the same household so the experience remains calm and enjoyable for your pets.
My pet isn't perfectly trained. Is that okay?
More than okay.
Most pets arrive curious, excited, shy—or all three—and that's perfectly okay.
Your session is never rushed, and there's no expectation that your companion will sit perfectly or perform tricks.
Creating relaxed, natural portraits is part of what we do.
(I actually think this should replace several old questions. It answers one of the biggest fears people have.)
How should we prepare?
We'll send personalized guidance before your session, but a few simple suggestions help everyone have a wonderful experience.
For people:
• Neutral earth tones photograph beautifully.
• Avoid bright colors, busy patterns, logos, and thin stripes.
• Comfortable clothing is always best.
For pets:
• A walk beforehand helps energetic dogs relax.
• Bring favorite treats and a beloved toy.
• Grooming beforehand is encouraged if desired.
• Don't forget a quick potty break before arriving.
What if my pet is older or has mobility challenges?
Every pet deserves to be celebrated exactly as they are. Whether your companion is a playful puppy, a dignified senior, or has special mobility or medical needs, we'll tailor the portrait experience to keep them comfortable and safe.
What happens after the session?
Shortly after your portrait session, you'll join us for a cinematic presentation where you'll see your portraits for the very first time. In many cases, this takes place the same day, while some families prefer to return a few days later. During your planning consultation, we'll decide together what works best for you and your pet.
Together we'll choose your favorite portraits and thoughtfully design artwork that celebrates your relationships and complements your home. Using specialized preview software, you'll even see how each piece will look on your own walls before it's is created.
What is the typical investment?
Every family and every home are unique, but most DelaFoto families invest between $1,500–$4,000 in custom artwork.
Many of our community fundraising projects include complimentary artwork, with additional pieces always available if you wish.
Payment plans are available.
