Reflections from the 2026 Denver Dog Fair

This past Saturday, we packed up Tuyok, loaded the artwork, and headed to the Denver Dog Fair for one of our favorite events of the year.

Throughout the day, we met dog lovers from all walks of life—new puppy parents, families celebrating senior companions, recent adopters, and people who simply couldn't imagine life without a dog by their side. As always, one thing became clear very quickly: every dog has a story, and every family has a reason they stopped to tell it.

One of the highlights this year was our booth location near the entrance. It gave us the opportunity to meet many visitors as they began their day and introduced even more people to the idea that pet portraits can be more than photographs. They can become lasting artwork that celebrates a relationship.

We were also thrilled to welcome visitors into conversations about this year's Canine Colorado Labrador Retriever magazine project. Many people were surprised to learn that portrait photography can help support rescue organizations and bring pet-loving communities together through storytelling and fundraising.

Perhaps our favorite part of the day was watching people stop in front of Tuyok.

For years, this portrait has greeted visitors to our studio. Seeing him make the trip to the Dog Fair and spark conversations with complete strangers reminded us why artwork matters. A single portrait has the power to stop someone in their tracks, create a connection, and invite a story.

A special thank you goes to Jennifer, who joined us at the event and helped create a warm and welcoming experience throughout the day. Her love of animals and ability to connect with people made a tremendous difference.

By the end of the event, we had the privilege of meeting many families interested in creating artwork of their own. Over the coming weeks, we'll begin welcoming many of them into the studio and helping them tell their stories.

To everyone who stopped by our booth, shared a story, introduced us to your dog, or simply paused to admire the artwork, thank you!

Events like the Denver Dog Fair remind us that what we do has never really been about photography.

It's about celebrating the animals who change our lives.
